Please Note:When reading this unlock Motorola phone guide, please keep in mind that some phones can be unlocked using a freely available method while others require purchasing an unlock code or unlocking devices (this depends on the make and model of your phone). For phones where you have to purchase an unlock code, please note that these codes are generated by a third-party server which requires a fee to be paid, thus we cannot provide a free solution for these phones. But we do provide the lowest possible price for these codes, as we obtain the codes directly from the source. If a free unlocking solution is not provided on this website for the particular make and model of your phone, or if you are not comfortable unlocking the phone yourself, you will need to use the Pro Unlocking section of the website and purchase an unlock solution.

The following Motorola models can be unlocked freely:

Most Motorola OS, Linux OS, iDEN, Symbian/UIQ, Windows Mobile and i-mode Handsets.

unlock Motorola phone solution:

1. Be sure your phone is fully charged.

2. Be sure your phone is unplugged from the computer.

3. To work with your phone you will need to connect to it using USB. To do so, you will need the correct USB drivers for "talking" to your phone. Download the USB Driver Installer software for your phone and operating system from the Motorola webite by clicking here.

4. You will need a copy of winzip to unzip the files, which you can get by clicking here. Extract the ".msi" file from the driver package and Run the program.

5. Once installation is complete, click Start -> All Programs -> Motorola Driver Installer -> Motorola Driver Installer.exe.

6. The software will do an initial system scan.

7. Select the checkbox "Clean and Reinstall" and click the "Start" button.

8. Click the "Exit" button once the process is finished.

9. Plug in your phone and your computer should now recognize the new device with a "Found New Hardware message".

10. You can now connect to your phone using the Motorola Phone tools and other applications. To unlock your phone you will need to follow a few more steps.

11. Make sure Mobile Phone tools is not running.

12. Download and install a P2K program such as "P2kMan" by clicking here. Other suitable programs include P2KCommander and P2KTools.

13. Make sure the phone is still connected and no other programs are running that interact with the phone or the USB ports.

14. The new hardware wizard should start and ask you if you want to connect to Windows Update. Click "No, not this time" and "Next". If, for any reason, the new hardware wizard does not start you will need to install and run a program called "RSD Lite" by clicking here.

15. Choose "Install the Software Automatically" and then "Next".

16. The Accessories Interface will be installed and a confirmation screen will appear, click "Finish".

17. The new hardware wizard will start up again. Once again refuse Windows Update and select "Install Software Automatically".

18. The Data Logging MCU Interface will be installed and a confirmation screen will appear.

19. Repeat the above procedure for the Test Command Interface and click "Finish".

20. The P2k drivers are now fully installed and the P2k programs should recognize your handset.

21. Backup data such as your contact list before proceeding.

22. To unlock your phone yourself you will need to install the correct operating system version for the unlock tool to work, in addition to all of the drivers for your computer listed above. In cell phones the operating system is also known as the firmware. Which firmware your cell phone uses depends on the bootloader, a program that controls the startup sequence of the phone.

23. To check the bootloader version of the phone, while the phone is connected to the computer via USB:

24. To unlock your phone you will need to be running an older version of the firmware, specifically version "7.D0". If you are currently running version 7.DO skip directly to step 27, otherwise follow these directions for downgrading your phone's firmware (you will need, once again, RSD Lite).

25. Download bootloader file by clicking here.

26. Flash the downloaded file into your phone with RSD Lite.

27. Download the Moto Unlocking Software by clicking here.

28. Start your phone in bootloader mode.

29. Run the Moto Unlocking Software, click connect and unlock.

30. Your phone is now unlocked!
